I bought a circular saw from on older gentleman. It was our first time interacting He’s 66, lives alone and has visiting nursing care. He has cancer, which he thinks is terminal. He owns his home outright. But doesn’t have family (no wife or kids, no living siblings or parents. He also doesn’t have much saved as he worked for himself as a handy man.
My question is, is there a way for me to pay the taxes on the house and take care of all upkeep while he stays, as a tenant for the remainder of his life? Could be a for a year could be 10 years. Even at 10 or 12k a year for 10 years it would be a worthwhile investment.
I’d hate to pay for upkeep and maintenance only to have the house go to the state, or taken to pay Medicare bills.
What options are available so that he’d be able to stay in the house for the reminder of his life and for the ownership of the house to become mine when he passes? Thanks in advance.
