Delayed closing, filed multiple extensions

South Carolina closing ? Buyer delayed due to seller unforeseen family circumstances, They plan to close but can't get their shot together, attorney on their end is slow and seems inexperienced. Realtor says all we can do is extend or take are earnest money home and give up. I find it hard to believe. It is a breach on their end obviously. In reverse we'd lose our money all around. It's been months.
