The reaction you're getting appears to be an amphetamine/methamphetamine reaction at face value. But your reagent is coming out of the bottle looking like a meth reaction before it even hits the sample, so I don't trust the reaction.

Check out this list and see if you have anything on it you could use to test your Marquis reagent to see if it's still working properly.

Marquis lasts about a year under ideal storage conditions, so it's possible that it's expired and you'll have to find a newer one.
