Questions regarding Simon reaction

Post Body

Tested a new batch of molly today, everything went great and as expected until I got to Simons… added sample, added 1 drop of each and wham no reaction. “Well crud I must have MDA” is my thought, however I had a previously tested sample which I’d known to be MDMA. So I re-ran Simons and to my surprise this previously reactive sample was not showing me any blue color or any other signs of a positive test.

Reagents were assumed to be fresh as they just arrived yesterday. But considering my control sample was non-reactive with this batch makes me think that perhaps one or both components of my simons reagents is bad. I’ll be ordering a new set of reagents but wondering if anyone can think of a different conclusion? TYA. ✌🏻
