So I have kept up with the anime fairly well. I watched s1 back when it was relatively new. Then I rewatched s1 before s2 aired, then watched that. I just got the notification that s3 will be airing soon and it once again raises a question for me: why is the show so critically acclaimed?
I always thought it was entertaining, but i just couldn't understand why everyone was losing their minds when s2 was airing. I remember hearing about the super high IMDB ratings and thinking to myself "what is it about these episodes that puts them up there with attack on titan?"
I think part of the difficulty for me is the philosophical rhetoric that the characters spout almost constantly. I'm not good at picking up how characters grow and change, and maybe I'm just not used to isekai. Characters' motivations for certain actions, why they do some things and not others, I just struggle. I kinda remember the tiger guy hating Subaru for something and not wanting his village to be liberated or somethin and somethin about the guy who owns the mansion being evil but like...he also kinda isn't? I'm gonna have to brush up on the material again if I want to watch this next season lol, but hopefully someone can help
