I'm trying to get at a simple way of understanding what 'God' means in the psychological sciences, or at least one that makes sense of things for me... It seems that God desceibes the source of the stimuli that pattern behavior--the social and worldly reality which governs and influences our behavior--It is the collective unconscious, and often manifests in dreams and religious experiences and hallucinatory states as a distinct entity.
In other words: God is reality?
edit: or perhaps, God is whatever is responsible for giving rise to reality as we know it. All gods that are known to humans are only as powerful as their descriptions empower their users.
