I work at a car wash, I stand by the machine and sell washes.
I was working on Veterans Day and a lady comes in. I do my normal pitch, and apparently she didn't like the upsell attempt. The following conversation goes...
Customer: "Do you know what day it is?"
Me: "Of course mam, it's Veterans day."
Customer: very condescending "Exactly, maybe instead of wasting your life up here trying to scam people out of their money you should consider doing something with your life and contributing to this country like our Veterans!"
Me: In my best customer service voice "Mam, I'm an 8 year Veteran of the Navy and returned 3 months ago from 24 months in Afghanistan. I'm also still currently in the Navy Reserve, but thank you, I'll take your advice I to consideration. You have a nice day!"
Needless to say, she looked absolutely mortified and tried to profusely apologize. Eventually I got tired of listening to her and just said "Mam, you're holding up my line."
