Classic retail rant. Every day working at a car wash, I see the same thing in various forms. A lack of patience. We have gates that open automatically to let cars into the wash. We have three of them that open one at a time, to avoid any accidental collisions. And oh my god let me tell you. If those gates donāt open in the same SECOND that their cars stop in front of it, they reach for the gear shift, and throw it in reverse, with the incorrect wisdom that itāll somehow open the gate sooner. Despite the screen next to their driverās side window politely telling them to āplease wait for the gate to open.ā I see hands flying up behind the windshield in frustration, then craning their necks looking for me to let them in because theyāre SURE that their more special than the other members who had to wait. Itās ridiculous. If a gate doesnāt open when itās supposed to, sit there for a second and just wait. We see you. We understand your frustration. You just have to bear with us until we can let you through. It really is just that simple. Donāt go running errands when you only have 10 minutes free to do so.
Side rant: Iāve also noticed an uptick in a lack of spatial awareness lately? People pulling into our roadway and just stopping in the middle of traffic forā¦reasons??
