I am a big believer in democracy and voting is so important! I saw this analogy the other day and it’s now my go to response for people who think their vote doesn’t count and people who don’t want to vote because there’s no perfect candidate:
Imagine a bus with ten passengers voting on their destination. Three vote to get ice cream. Four vote to drive over a cliff. Four don’t vote, maybe because they don’t think their vote matters or maybe they’re vegan or maybe they think the ice cream at this place just isn’t as good as Ben & Jerry’s. The bus goes over a cliff and they all die.
So, the rules:
Tell me you voted early or absentee or plan to vote on Election Day! Give me some details! Like, here’s mine: I early voted last Friday at the community center near my work and there weren’t any other people there which isn’t great because long lines to vote mean people are voting. The sticker they gave me was a weird one designed by a child who won a contest instead of the normal I Voted sticker.
Tag someone! A friend or a stranger, doesn’t matter, just tag them and ask them if they’ve voted yet!
Have your wishlist in your profile because I’m on mobile and the flair links don’t work.
Have something around $5 or less on your wishlist.
Contest closes sometime tomorrow, there will be multiple winners at various times.
Edit: closed! Thanks everybody for voting :)
