CONTEST IS CLOSED- Thanks to all who participated and helped me spread awareness on World Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day!
Today is World Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day, and this month is my 4 year anniversary since I ended all contact with my abusers. As an annual tradition, I donate money to a child abuse charity, but I figured it'd be fun to host a contest as well, in order to hopefully spread awareness!
Narcissistic abuse is a form of emotional abuse that is often characterized by lying, manipulating, name-calling, humiliating, gaslighting, stalking, and belittling. Sometimes physical and sexual abuse accompany it. It is unfortunately a very difficult form of abuse to prove to police and child protective services, yet, unfortunately, however, its effects are long-lasting and very harmful. Oftentimes victims of this type of abuse are later diagnosed with complex post traumatic disorder, anxiety, depression, agoraphobia, and other psychological disorders.
One of the reasons why this abuse goes unnoticed is thereĀ arenāt any laws prohibiting it. The only way to end narcissistic abuse is to start by raisingĀ awareness and educate people about what it is, the warning signs,Ā and how to avoid pathological people. Arming people with this knowledge is critical since those who tend to inflict narcissisticĀ abuse have a pervasive pattern of notĀ taking responsibility and a lack of empathy, makingĀ them extremely resistant to treatment. To show me that you've read this, please put your favorite color somewhere in your comment.
