Hi guys! I’m finally getting around to posting my intro after lurking for a while. This sub seems to be full of amazing people, and I can’t wait to start making new friends.
So! About me: I just graduated college last month with my bachelors degree in Zoo Science and Applied Conservation and will eventually use it to get a job as a zookeeper. I’ve interned and apprenticed at a couple zoos and it’s very hard work - physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. But it’s the most rewarding job ever.
Besides animals, my other love is books. My favorite authors are Stephen King and Cassandra Clare. But I read lots of different genres. I’m very open minded about books and will read anything that sounds good to me or that is highly recommended by a lot of fellow readers. Some of my favorite books I’ve ever read include Memoirs of a Geisha, Life of Pi, and Wild by Cheryl Strayed. While I have a kindle, I prefer real books. The feel, the smell, the sound of pages turning is unparalleled.
I like music too. And am as equally open minded about what I listen to as what I read. My favorite solo artist is Adam Lambert and my favorite band is Papa Roach. PR has gotten me through the hardest times of my life. I’m also a fan of 80s hair metal with Motley Crue being my favorite.
Some of my favorite TV shows: Supernatural (I’m a few seasons behind so no spoilers please), Game of Thrones (I like to pretend the last season never happened), Friends, Parks and Rec, Frasier, Brooklyn 99, Outlander (took a break to read all the books before I continue), the anime Soul Eater, Steven Universe and Adventure Time (which I watch to calm down when my anxiety is particularly bad). I’m sure there are more but they all left my head, haha.
I’m not big on movies because I struggle to concentrate for that long, but the ones I love are easier to watch: Wild, Into the Wild, Marvel movies, LOTR/The Hobbit, The Princess Bride (my all time fav). I love musicals. My fav is Rock of Ages.
I like video games, but don’t play as much since developing an anxiety disorder, they just stress me out too bad now. I prefer Nintendo games. The Zelda games are my absolute favorite. I’ve also recently jumped on the Animal Crossing bandwagon.
I have a cat and she is my baby. She’s a very nervous thing though and it breaks my heart that she gets scared so easily. I’d give anything for her to be able to understand me just long enough for me to tell her that I would never let anyone or anything hurt her and that she is 100% safe. My family jokes that when I rescued her as a kitten, my anxiety must have rubbed off on her. She was supposed to be my emotional support animal, but I think it’s the other way around and I’m her emotional support human, lol.
I’m very family oriented. My Nana is my best friend.
My recent obsession/hobby are paint by numbers and diamond art.
In general, besides books and all animals, some of my favorite things are bears, mushrooms, owls, faeries, and Alice in Wonderland.
Wow. This is way longer than I intended, and I could probably keep going, but I doubt anyone came her to read my autobiography, lol. If you made it this far (bless you stranger) and would like to know more, I’m an open book and you can AMA!
