Hi everyone! My name is Miranda. I'm 24 and studying botany in university (bachelor of science with a double major in Biology and English and certificate of specialization in organic agriculture). I'm going into my last year and then plan on doing my Master's. I work/volunteer at my local herbarium and love learning about anything to do with plants, conservation, and ecology. I've been spending a lot of time browsing those subreddits lol. Let me know if you know of any interesting books/guides/sites about these topics that I should check out!
I live with my parents, brother, and our mini zoo (6 cats, fish, lemon beagle, and 4 laying hens). A few months ago my 17yo cat, Baby, passed due to cancer. She was a great friend growing up. When our local shelters opened up, I adopted a sweet 5mo named Luna. She has helped keep me occupied and has brought lots of laughter which has been pleasantly distracting. Luna loves playing fetch!
During all of this, I have been trying to keep busy. I'm in some online courses through my university, I've been gardening, and helping with home projects. I want to try canning and making my own hot sauce in the fall with veggies from my garden.
One of my hobbies is sending/receiving postcards from around the world. I have over 100 in my collection so far! I want to travel when this is all over, but this is how I will be "travelling" in the meantime. I also like to play video games (mostly PC and Playstation) and to read when I have the time. I do a lot of activities that keep my hands busy while I watch television. My current activity is making a miniature paper greenhouse from a kit I got. I also have a huge plant collection; it is kind of taking over every windowsill. I've got some terracotta plant pots that I want to paint; I would love design suggestions! Let me know of any fun hands-on activities that you enjoy doing while watching TV.
AMA! :)
