So we've all had years where money was tight, and for whatever reason you couldn't afford to buy a huge gift for someone. Instead, sometimes people opt to make their gifts to save some money. This year I'm making my wife Sirius Black's wand from the Harry Potter series. I'm not exactly handy, so I hope it turns out well. Using a Dremel, and sand paper to shape the wand. Then a soldering iron to burn the runes into the handle. Finally, I will finish it up with a nice dark wood stain to give it the correct color.
So here's the discussion: How do you feel about hand crafted gifts? Do you feel more important when someone spends a ton of money on a gift, or a ton of their personal time? No judgements, just curious.
