This year I sought to re-home a lot of material things. As I was packing away my donations, I came across clothes that I promised myself I would wear, years ago. I had taken suggestions from family members, past friends and celebrity icons but, I always knew I was never comfortable wearing those types of clothes.
A memory that I always think of is when I went to a Goodwill and sent a pic of a pair of blue pants to a friend and she sent multiple texts back about how ugly the pants were. I still got them, even though she got so mad at me. For me, I realized that it doesn't matter what other people thought about my clothing choices.
This year I learned to shop for me. By doing so I was selecting and bought clothes that I would be happy wearing. Seeking approval from family/certain people was unnecessary because they would always have something negative to say. I have so much fun thrifting now and I wear my clothes with pride.
