I was fired today. It’s a long story and I won’t go into details here, but suffice it to say I’m okay with the outcome because the thing that prompted my firing was me blowing the whistle on wage theft, which was, morally and legally, the correct thing to do. And I’m proud of myself for taking this action despite knowing the potential consequences.
Anyway, that brings us to this contest. I haven’t held a contest in a while, so I figured, why not? There are a few ways you can win, but you may only enter once and your entry may only utilize one of the following entry methods:
(1) Tell me about a time you were fired or laid off and it ended up working out for the best.
OR
(2) Tell me about a time you made a tough moral decision.
OR
(3) Send me a job listing that you think I should apply to and tell me why you want me to apply to this particular job. It can be any job. I won’t necessarily be applying to any of these positions, but you need to make a convincing argument as to why I should apply to this particular job now. Bonus points if you find a job that I’m qualified to do and which pays a living wage. Additional bonus points if you find a weird or quirky job that makes me laugh.
Please choose only one of the above options. Do NOT do all three options or you will be disqualified.
Background about me: I have 20 years of experience working as a server/bartender. I have 12 years of experience working in higher ed as an educator. I have undergraduate degrees in Professional Writing, and in Communication Arts & Sciences. I have an MA and a PhD in Communication Studies. I like art, music, reading, writing, learning, plants, cats, and nature. I’m good at public speaking.
There will be 3 winners. One from each participation option category. The winners will receive something ~$10. This contest is only open to the US, sorry international friends.
The Rules:
Must have an intro.
Must have gifted at least once in the last 6 months.
Must be active in the community outside of contests and giveaways.
Must make an entry as a top comment utilizing only one of the three choices for entering this contest.
Must tag a friend and say something nice to them.
This contest ends on January 5th with gifting to follow shortly thereafter. I think that’s everything.
