I don't think I've ever seen/heard anyone complaining about the acquaintance-zone.

If you think about it, seeing someone as a friend when they don't see you as a friend is 100% worse than someone just seeing you as a friend, as least you have a friend.
I'm not sure if one can ever go from acquaintance to friend unless it happen quickly.
