Had this on my mind lately:
It would be cool to see an animated sitcom where the main/recurring characters actually age every year/season. I was recently thinking about how there's a floating timeline in The Simpsons, where Homer will be younger in one flashback than he was in another from even further back in time. Or how it's starting to not make sense that some characters fought back in WWII because they'd simply be much older than intended or should be dead by now. I don't mind that stuff and I understand that's going to happen with a show that's been on for so many decades.
I just think it would be really cool if we had another animated sitcom like that, that could also last for so long but actually age them up over the years. Imagine having a baby character such as Maggie, who by now would be in their thirties. Or watching the adults become seniors. I think it would make for a more compelling story, could add longevity by having different tropes for different eras in life, and would probably be talked about a lot by all sorts of age groups each growing up with their own era of the show. Probably great rewatchability too.
