For example, the first Harry Potter book was published in 1997, and Harry is 10. That means that anyone born in 1987 is the same age as Harry Potter. Equally, if you are approximately the same age as Daniel Radcliffe is, then you can claim Harry Potter as well.
For me, there is an episode of the Simpsons where Lisa is established as being born during the 1984 Summer Olympics. I was born in 1982. So I am the same age as Bart Simpson.
For you?
EDIT: Yes, OK, I'm not a Potter maniac, I didn't know that for whatever reason they're set half a decade or so before they were written. Well fine, claim them if you want, but the spirit of the question says you should be either 1987 vintage, or Radcliffe's age. I'm 1982, and I can assure you, nobody my age thinks that the Potter kids aren't younger.
