Iām going to keep cards relatively close to the chest on this one so as I can assure anonymity.
Iāve been struggling with this idea recently and going back and forth in my head, is it a genuinely ok idea that comes from the right place or am I a piece of shit.
Some context, I work for an up and coming start up, we have a somewhat global presence but are still at seed stage. Iāll not delve into the product but, we focus on ādeveloping marketsā shall I say. Think, SE Asia, Africa, South America etc. (we donāt service all these regions but Iām purposely avoiding being too specific)
During my time at this company Iāve interviewed thousands of people and grown the business to approx 100 people. Iāve noticed that sometimes people from developing regions can struggle to make an impact during interviews at a global or more western organisation. Often itās not through a lack of skill or talent but certain idiosyncrasies, cultural differences, being unable to adjust to appropriate business formality etc. many of these things are easily adjusted.
Anyway my idea is to create a course aimed at helping people in this specific developing region get hired at global firms, tech start ups, etc. I believe that I could add genuine value to a lot of people, and the course content would be of a high quality and valuable. I would price for the local market and make sure that it was as affordable as possible. Thinking between $10 - $20 max.
Is this exploitativeā¦ am I being a capitalist pig or does the potential to do good and help people land awesome jobs excuse the fact Iād be charging for this service?
TIA
