Hello Waffle Cosmetics was founded by recent university graduate Christine and is affectionately named after her cat Waffle. The phrase 'Hello Waffle' is commonly said around my household as he likes to lurk around corners and scare you when you least expect it. Hello Waffle Cosmetics specializes in making collections based off fairytales because everyone loves a great story. All products are handmade by Christine and all formulas are her own unique creation. Eyeshadows and blushes are mica-based with is a mineral and lip products are a special blend of skin nourishing oils and butters.

• We all know it's not easy to have your own business, how do you find ways to keep yourself motivated?
  While owning a business has its ups and downs, I stay motivated by keeping a positive attitude and having a great support system. I struggle from mental health issues so when I'm in a slump I make sure I stay away from the internet until I'm ready to work again. Thankfully, I've made quite a few friends in the community and they have been a great help in getting past the slumps. In addition to that, seeing little notes my customers give me and interacting online with them brightens my day! Ultimately, the reason why I started Hello Waffle was because of my passion for makeup so I would definitely say that my love of makeup and supporting other small businesses owners like myself keeps me going day to day smile emoticon Because I work with other brands for Visage, I've made quite a few friends and it's always fun to complain about our day to day activities together (like spilling an entire batch of eyeshadow on the floor!). Building rapport and relationships within the community is one of the best parts of being a brand owner. Having a close community of people I relate to helps keep me motivated instead of feeling isolated from working at home.

• Do you have a favourite collection or a favourite product?
  My favourite product is hands down my blushes and highlighters because they're so easy to blend! I'm all about creating a flawless face so I always contour, blush, and highlight my face whenever I do my makeup. Since I like to emphasize either my eyes or lips, creating wearable blush shades for myself was a huge motivator in deciding what I would put in my general catalogue. And you can never have enough highlighters! My favourite collection would probably be the Ouroboros collection. It's a small 7-piece collection that often gets looked over in favour of my larger fandom-based collections. Ouroboros is chock-full of great jewel tones. A few of my favourite shades - Sloth, Pride, and Lust are from this collection.

• How did the Ouroboros collection come about?
  Ouroboros came about when I was thinking about creating a mini collection instead of my usual 12-14 piece collections. I immediately thought of Full Metal Alchemist because it was one of my favourite anime's growing up. smile emoticon One of my newer permanent collections, Greek Gods and Goddesses came about when I was speaking to another redditor about the Planetary Pigments from TKB. These pigments shift colours depending on your light source and I really wanted to do a collection highlighting their shifts. I wanted the pigment I used to correspond with the name of the eyeshadow in question and that's how I came up with the Greek Gods and Goddesses concept. I used the Greek equivalent of the Roman god name of the pigment. So for example, Travel to Jupiter's Roman god would be Jupiter and thus the Greek equivalent is Zeus, and that's what Bringer of Storms uses (plus other shifty goodness of course!) smile emoticon I thought that was kind of neat!

• Tell us more about Kitty Kingdom! How did you come up with the idea of it?
  One of the members of my private Facebook group (Hello Waffle Kitty Kingdom) suggested having custom eyeshadows made for members and the idea spiralled from there! I asked everyone for the names of their pets plus photos and their ideas on what they wanted in a product and then came the fun of putting the colours together. Naming the collection after the Facebook group just came naturally ;-)

• Could you give us an inside scoop on what will be in store for 2016?
  I will be discontinuing a lot of my current fandom collections as I want to move away from fandom-based collections and more towards original content. Hello Waffle will also be releasing a few new products come the New Year including liquid lipsticks smile emoticon I will be expanding my blush lineup yet again in 2016 and introducing a few contour shades as well as introducing more work-friendly permanent lip colours.
