Reposting as I got some cool new stamps!
I have a bunch of temple and shrine cards, and visiting them to pray for good fortune in the new year (hatsumōde) is a big part of Japanese New Year's celebrations. This is a good article about hatsumōde. On December 31st some temples allow visitors to ring the bell as part of joya-no-kane. A lot of them just allow people to watch the monks ring the bell 108 times, one for each of the kleshas, or Buddhist worldly desires. I've visited a ton of both all throughout the year and bought a ton of postcards! So I hope you all can get a little bit of the hatsumōde or joya no kane spirit from the cards!
Please post a comment as well. My address is at the end, please send a card! I celebrate Christmas and Japanese New Year's. I'd prefer a Chinese/Japanese New Year's card if you have one. I received two of this card last year but the Year of the Tiger version!
