Asking for cards for my Big 5-0! Once upon a time my friends and I all exchanged birthday/Xmas gifts and cards. But along the way it became too expensive so we stopped. Most of us had spouses or significant others that would splurge on us when the holiday or celebration arises. So it relieved a lot of the pressure from our friend group. No one wants extra unwanted items they don’t need in the home, and the stuff we do need or want is out of the price range of friends anyway. That being said… my partner grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness. He does not celebrate birthdays or any holiday for that matter. He does give me random gifts though-out the year which I love. But nothing ever wrapped. No cards. But the love is there.
The turning point. The year i turned 36. The year one becomes closer to 50 than to 20. Also the year I lost my parents unexpectedly 2 days apart. Since then, nothing to unwrap. No cards. But I do get a ton of Happy Birthdays on Facebook. And they mean the world to me. But I’ve been mentally stuck since I was 36.
So I’m asking for birthday cards. It’s something I can open, meant for just me. And I miss cards. They’re becoming a thing of the past. Also postcards!! I would actually prefer a postcard with pics from your hometowns. Cheaper to send too! I don’t know the protocol for sending my address. I do have a PO Box that is active until the end of the year but not sure if I’m allowed to post it here. Thank you Random Acts of Cards.
Edit to remove address and add in Birthday. October 29th!
