Post Body

Hello, RAoC fam! :) My husband and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary this month, and we would absolutely love happy mail to celebrate! For some background on our chaotic wedding/elopement (it happened in 2020, if that's any indication of the chaos surrounding it LOL), just go to the bottom of this post! It's not necessary to know, but I wanted to share for anyone who's interested in hearing our story :)

We're a hetero female/male couple, so anything portraying those genders traditionally is okay! We'd love ANY sort of weddingy/congratulatory/anniversary happy mail! Or, if you're looking for interests and favorite things, here's a lil list:

  • We are NERD CENTRAL!!! xD Gaming, D&D, Marvel, Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc... Ya really can't go wrong xD
  • Traveling, hiking, the outdoors
  • Our wedding colors were supposed to be emerald & gold, so anything in that color scheme would be so special!
  • Dogs, cats
  • Literally anything LOL, just receiving mail would be the greatest joy :)

\**Chaotic wedding background:* We got engaged in 2019 and had planned on a 2020 wedding... Then you-know-what happened, and we had to reschedule the wedding THREE. DIFFERENT. TIMES. Then, long story short, we ended up being forced to decide to cancel it altogether and more or less elope; we didn't have any guests at the ceremony at all, not even family nor friends. It was devastating for so many reasons. But at the same time, we wanted to keep everyone safe and well. <3

Our decision not to have any guests caused LOTS of problems with both of our families, many of whom are anti-vaxxers, believe COVID is a conspiracy, etc. Even some family who don't hold those beliefs were extremely upset that we decided to get married without any guests. It was... A lot. Let's just say that I was in tears almost daily leading up to the big day... Partially because our dream wedding that we'd been planning for months (and that I'd been dreaming of for years) wasn't going to happen, and partially because relationships with some family members literally disintegrated overnight, topped off with some really nasty words and actions. We were wrecks. On top of that, we also had to plan the entire wedding/elopement on our own, and gosh, 0/10 do NOT recommend LOL xP

It was also really devastating because we were never able to have a wedding shower, bachelorette party, or bachelor's party, and consequently only received a handful of items on our registry (which was a huge letdown and hassle, since we had nearly nothing to start off married life with). Essentially, we never got to celebrate any part of our engagement nor marriage with friends nor family (STUPID PANDEMIC). Even a couple of years later, it's still really emotionally difficult for us to see other people have the parties and weddings that we were deprived of. Or even just the congratulations and support of family. Eek.

"Bittersweet" is really the word to describe the whole thing. It was traumatic. Full stop. It was also the best decision we could have made, considering the unprecedented circumstances. Being married has been the hugest blessing to both of us, and we are falling more in love with each other every day (SO CLICHÉ EWWWW haha but it's trueeee), and are just so grateful to be walking though the absolute shitshow that is the 2020s together!! Bleh.

ANYWAY YES, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH, YOU ALL ROCK, LOVE YOU ALL, SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS AMAZING COMMUNITY, LONG LIVE SNAIL MAIL!! <3
