Many thanks to the excellent folks who sent me cards today!
/u/blacksmithequivalent - thank you for the San Diego postcard with your recent library haul! I haven’t read any of these books, I hope you enjoy them! Looking forward to the next postcard!
/u/pleasant-cranberry37 - thank you for the beautiful postcard with a sketch of a church! I haven’t read either of those books/series nor have seen the show! If I know a show I want to watch is based off a book i too like to read the book and compare!
/u/libertyprogrammer - thank you for the Lavinia Fontana postcard with two new words! I love this exchange :)
/u/littlemermaidxx - thank you for the gold heart card! “I’m Glad My Mom Died” is on my to-read list! Have you read “One By One” by Ruth Ware? It’s also a take on “And Then There Were None.” I enjoyed it quite a bit.
/u/residentcomposer1939 - thank you for the sailboats card! I absolutely LOVED “Homegoing!” What a fabulous, well done read! It’s funny, I too recently read “The Green Mile” and 100% agree with your analysis. King definitely played into the “magical black person” trope and I found the language problematic. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed some of his books, and I did get some enjoyment out of this one, but sometimes I don’t feel great about his writing choices. Example: the one scene in “Gerald’s Game” was so appalling that after I read it, I considered never reading another King book again. But then I absolutely love “Salem’s Lot” - it’s just so much fun. I definitely have mixed feelings.
