Hello friends!!
My sister is a high school science teacher. In addition to the usual pandemic curve balls, she has struggled with chronic illness, our mother's ongoing health issues and her (my sister's) own anxiety & OCD struggles.
Through all of this she has been a fierce champion for her students and has done everything in her power to give them a safe and engaging learning space (whether it be digital or physical). And I'm afraid she is on the road to being burnt out.
I was hoping that you all could perhaps send her some love, silliness or encouragement her way.
Here is a bit about her:
She is a Chemistry Major, bound for research who, uncharacteristically, instead felt called to teach. She very much loves a good science geek joke or pun and tries to incorporate them into her classrooms.
She's very musical! She has played the piano since she was a small kid. Flute and choir in High School. Then through and after college branched out to the organ, ukulele, banjo and misc percussion. Her husband is a trained vocalist and they often times pair up in the evenings to play and sing to decompress 🎶 When she first started at her current school, the kids didn't know this about her and were astounded when she randomly burst into song one day. So she now motivates fundraising between the classes, winners get to pick a song for the straight laced science teacher to dress up and perform during assembly 😄
She keeps a hobby farm: chickens, ducks, 2 great Pyrenees doggos, kitties, and last but not least: she keeps miniature goats and they are truly the apple of her eye. There are usually a little herd of cat sized miniature goat kids bouncing around her yard at any given time! So cute. 🐐
Long post, but if you are able, I think that some cards would do wonders for her soul these days.
Comment, and I will DM you with an address.
Thanks in advance!
