Hello, dear postal friends! This is going to be my last offer for a while. Maybe forever. Not to be too dramatic, just stating a fact! You can skip the rest if you want and just sign up for cards HERE..

Here's the thing. I love sending postcards out to you all. I like to put on a film and sit in my favorite chair with a good fountain pen, addressing cards. I like researching artists and finding quotes with which to amuse you. I like picking out cards that are beautiful to me, and sharing them.

But I have come to accept that I can't really live up to the social contract when it comes to thanking and getting everyone's flair up.

When I send out a batch of cards, I'm generally sending cards to 50-100 people. And a lot of those people send me cards back, which I love. I get anywhere between 20 and 50 cards nearly every week, even though I've stopped requesting any. Often I don't read them right when I get them, but instead put them away to read later when I am feeling sad. So I might have 3 weeks worth of cards in a box by the time I start reading them. An embarassment of riches!

I am so thankful for those cards, and I know that the least I can do is post thanks for each one. But.

But, for no good reason, writing those thank-you posts is a task that I allow to pile up. I feel worse and worse because I've waited too long to thank people, and then I avoid doing my thanks even longer, and I'm always afraid that I'll lose a card and forget to thank someone or that people will get mad because I post another offer before I make a thank-you post for a card they sent, or that they'll think it's personal that I haven't thanked them.

It's not personal. It's me. I seem to have a deficit. My own failure to thank everyone in a timely way has colored the whole exchange with anxious feelings. Believe me, I know this isn't rational and I wish I was different. I apologize, truly, to everyone who should've gotten a thanks from me and didn't.

I'm going to keep my form open, and if you want to get occasional surprise cards from me, please leave your information HERE. I still have a ton of cool cards and I would love to send some your way.

And if you want to send me a card back I would LOVE it, but please include your return address instead of your username, and understand that I will thank you with another postcard but I (probably) won't thank you on the RAOC subreddit.

I'm going to try to post thank-yous for the cards I have at home now, but I might end up just thanking you by post instead.
