In celebration of International Museum Day on 18 May, let's exchange postcards from the museum!

As it is also the festive season of Eid at the moment, I have one postcard from the Malay Heritage Centre featuring a lithograph made by Dutch artist Auguste Van Pers. His book of illustrations Netherlandsch Oost Indische Typen (Dutch East Indies Type) depicts an ensemble of characters and occupations in Java, Borneo and others. The pilgrim pictured is distinguished from others by his clothing as the coat and headgear worn by him is typical of returning pilgrims from Mecca.
