Hi there. This is a request for cards of support, encouragement, etc. for a friend who is struggling with loneliness during the COVID shutdown. The stay-in-place orders have been hard since he lives by himself and family is on the other side of the country. He lives alone in an apartment and since March has basically just left to check the mail or go for walks outside. Food is delivered (groceries) or we help with night-time drug store runs at 24 hour stores for the essentials.

He is high-functioning autistic and tried to reach out on a social group to get mail pen pals, only to be just severely bullied and made fun of, and was in tears. It was really nasty and mods were involved.

He just don't get that some people can be really cruel or trolls. He's super smart but just very socially awkward and a loner (not meant as a bad thing, just more doesn't ever feel like he fits in or belongs). He's one of those smart minds that could tell you the history of something he loves but doesn't fit in socially.

He would send cards before this and has ROAC flair, but the bullying experience had him so scared he that stopped putting his name/address on cards sent out, and actually just gave up on it all together. He's one of those people that always donates, volunteers, helps, etc.

I was wondering if any one would be interested in sending some happy mail, encouragement, etc. I feel like something like this would show people are good and restore some faith/hope in humanity.

The address I will PM you is mine, with his first name and c/o. This way I can track them to make sure you are thanked and we can do it as a surprise. We figured we could gather them together or provide them one a day for a month or something.
