Another week in. Lockdown has eased but how and to what extent no one is quite sure because our PM likes to waffle. I think I can occasionally sit on a bench when I go out for a walk now. And I can go out for a walk as many times as I want, as long as I call it exercise. There are other let ups of course, but those are the only ones that apply to me as a single person household with no dependents and a job that requires clients to actually be able to hire me. So, climbing further into spring, here's to a little more limbo. The waning soul and continuous pacing of this overly tactile extrovert is happily kept from total descent in large part by the grand people of this community, whether that's here, on social media, on videochat, or in the comforting and busting presence of jaunty envelopes, enthusiastic washi, and loopy handwriting.

u/chewy_95 sent an incredibly professional looking homemade card to the point where I'm not sure if it is bought or homemade! She has mad skills with mixed textures and colours and yellow butterflies. I think the world is full of confusion right now, and the game of endurance is really running thin for many, so thanks for being part of something that reaches little pieces of humanity into another person's home.

To u/reclusiverabbit for the adorable 'Tiny Dancer' card based off the winner of the People's Choice Award for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year. I got to see the exhibition before lockdown began and that photo has all the charm you would expect. It is a classic card from our resident rabbit, with the required bunnies and mad stickering (this one featuring a panda in a tutu, a bowl of rainbows and a hot sauce bottle). Sending love over to you and yours xxx

u/kata66 responded, I believe, to a prompted postcard in which I had asked what others might remember her for. Thank you for your insight and I think all your descriptors are ones to be proud of. Who wants to be perfectly perfect anyway? Have you ever met any of those people who at least put on the front of being so? Boring, they are, impossibly boring. We are human, we contradict, we contain multitudes. Thank you also for the Jane Austen postcard.

u/-peacocky- finally got her mum to do a collaboration and I'm proper chuffed to be getting a card from them! It must be noted, for anyone that does not know this, our peacock is the queen of pasta salad, and in the distantly future RAoC international meetup she will be providing all of it. She hasn't offered, I've just decided. You're welcome.

The one and only u/lonelytwatwaffle sent a card of a red 1957 chevy that inspired happy memories for her of her wonderful, car-loving father. I'm honoured that you shared this with me, and am very glad that you had such a wonderful relationship with your dad.

u/TheArgon sent a beautiful Montagu's Harrier postcard from India. Thank you for sharing the urban legend about the posh neighbourhood with all the abandoned houses! I'm finding it fascinating to find out local legends from across the world.

A beautiful watercolour and quote card that didn't come with a username, but I believe it is from u/AllyAska. I really hope this is correct as it is a lovely card with clearly a lot of work put into it.

u/ThatDude_DE spoiled me with yet another North Korean card of incredible artwork, and doubly so with a radio card featuring his pampered cat Cecil. He has been busy in the garden this lockdown and has nurtured an impressive looking garden with tomatoes and strawberries and green beans and been a hell of a lot more industrious than myself.

u/feellikebeingajerk sent a positive and purple card with a trove of stickers. I do indeed, wish someone had warned me that being a grownup was such a bitch, but I don't think my contrarian and obviously immortal younger self would have believed a thing of it! Maybe people did warn us and we just didn't listen and now the meters need reading, the bins need taking out, the council tax needs paying, I have unread ominous emails from my accountant and the cats are conspiring against me (I swear). And the whole flat needs a bit more of a hoover than I've been bothered with. Also, it would be nice if someone could have warned me that one day I was going to have to insist my parents stay inside and shut up and stop moaning, but from a distance, and I can't ground them. Why the hell would I have kids now when I have defiant parents to keep an eye on already?!

u/CapnCobbler clocked my love of pirates and went overboard with a pirate ship card, many piratey stickers, and an abundance of seaworthy decorations. The envelope had on it the campest, most fabulous pirate and then I found that she had added multiple stickers of Captain Fabulous inside the envelope for my own use! In other news, Toki now has a pirate outfit. He isn't happy with this situation but it is what it is.

u/Epicny's handmade card game is growing stronger and stronger. Anyone that is fortunate enough to receive any of the hot drunken mess of cards she made yesterday, complete with proud and central corgi bums, should be honoured. This one was far more refined with birds and pine cones and a really sweet message. It is her birthday on Tuesday (starting on Monday for the rest of the world!) so I hope her lockdown birthday is still one with cake and presents that makes her feel like the special, sassy, earnest Queen that she is.

u/ignaposts has found clever ways around Chile's closed postal service and has been collaborating with those with printers. With the aid of the enthusiastic u/dirtytightsdelano she sent another self designed card. I admit, I have still not quite got through the whole card, but I would say that if you are permitted to go back to work and you miss it then do so. I would in a heartbeat. I love my necktie. My uniform now is one I obviously put together myself and I insist on both Harrison and I having neckties. I'd say it's fifty fifty whether kitchens here use them or not - they're mainly only there in the older upscale establishments or in those with open kitchens. Half of my restaurant jobs required them, half didn't. But I like them, so I use them. I use a tradie drycleaner now because I decided soaking, cleaning, ironing and often starching whites was not worth the hassle or the time anymore to do it myself. I hope when I can go back to working, the dry cleaners are able to do so as well!

u/dirtytightsdelano then sent three more postcards and a couple inspiring minicards. I may have started her down a slippery slope this week and introduced her to the world of dying your hair mad colours and now she looks like a beautiful sea creature.

This has been London calling, until next time, do whatever you need to stay sane. Maybe don't murder your housemates though.
