About a week ago (I think), I posted offering to send women in stem postcards, inspired by my fruitless efforts on studying for my organic chemistry midterm. I took my exam, and felt pretty good about it, and so I was devastated when I found out I only got a 140/200 but well, I had spent my studying time writing postcards instead of studying so I wasn't too surprised that I had done poorly... until I got to class today.
Turns out, that was the highest grade in the class?? Totally did NOT expect that. I'm over the moon about it though. The last month has been pretty terrible (got a bpd diagnosis, got surgery, was hit by a car and broke my leg, ended up hospitalized due to infection, and unexpectedly lost one of my precious furbabies) so I really needed this boost. And then, I came home and finally got the chance to open everyone's happy mail (thank you post coming up soon!) Now, I feel amazing. A tiny bit of boasting but the next highest score (132/200) is being curved to an A, so I'm essentially the only person in my lecture of ~60 people to receive an A .
Anyway, I just wanted to celebrate a little bit and thank this wonderful community for supporting me. Your letters, cards, postcards, time, and generosity have carried me through this past month - I watched as my pile kept growing and growing and whenever I'd finish an assignment, I'd give myself permission to open something and savor it. And then I got to finish opening the stack today!
Anyway, I have boxes and boxes of postcards, multiple pads of paper, and several books of stamps, and my fountain pens are all inked and ready. Let me know what type of postcard you'd like to receive (or I could choose something random for you) and if you'd like a joke, a terrible pun (I watched a show about puns... it was a play on words.), something inspirational, a photo of one of my fur children (rats or cats, you can choose), an organic chemistry mechanism, really anything. I have a bunch of space, Pixar, Women in Science, botanical, and animal postcards that all need homes!
Again, thank you so much to everyone who has written to me <3 I'll try to get my thank you post up in the next couple of days!
