The best part of RAOC is that there is a community that supports me and my love of buying really cool cards! I recently bought this card with RAOC in mind. I am excited at how much more empowering the world has become for females and wanted to add to that narrative with a simple card about girl power. I love this couple's artwork and messaging for all things healthy so I wanted to support local art too!

Today on social media there was a reply to an article about STEM that basically said that "we need to engage more girls in science" . Years ago, I wouldn't have given that comment a second read. I would have agreed and moved on. Well, I am so much older and wiser now....and now I am super sensitive to things such as this. I politely made my point that girls are already engaged in science but generally it is not pointed out to them, recognized or acknowledged. The person then agreed with me that some girls are but that there needs to be more. Well, I still couldn't let it go and had to re-iterate that I meant ALL girls ARE engaged in scientific thinking all the time, as much as boys are, but it is up to the grown ups to recognize their powerful science ideas and support them. Basically I was saying, "it's not them, it's you".
