This exchange is to honor those who have passed before us by spending some time contemplating our memories of them on All Hallows' Day, this Friday, November 1st.
We will prepare and send each other a card on November 1st that honors someone who has died. How you interpret "honor" in regard to this exchange is up to you. You can send a postcard or a greeting card or a whatever card. You can talk about the person or not. How you choose to honor the person is completely up to you and you don't have to reveal anything you don't want. The person can be anyone you want to honor: a loved one, a friend, a relative, a pet, a famous person, whomever - it's your choice, this is about you. You do not need to reveal who they are but you can if you like, that is entirely up to you.
If you are interested in exchanging, comment below with a single word that reminds you of the person you're thinking of honoring. This is really just to get you thinking about the process and what you will want to send. You won't have to make any connections to that word in anything, it's for you to mull over on your own.
For example, maybe the person is your grandmother and she loved baseball, painting and yellow. In your comment, you use the word "memories" and for the card you send a postcard from a MLB team she liked and on it you just write Happy All Hallows' Day. Or, you could use the word "grandma" and send a yellow notecard talking all about her. Or you could comment "kind" and send a birthday card (because she always remembered your birthday) and write in it about taking a painting class. Or you could comment "diamond" (for baseball diamond) then make a card you think she would like and send that with nothing written on it at all.
It's entirely up to you.
The point is to motivate us to spend some intentional time on November 1st, this Friday, with our own thoughts, remembering someone who is gone, and taking stock. This is an exercise in honoring our own memories, feelings and what is important to us, and drawing positive things from them which we can then put out into the world. It should be cathartic and reaffirming, I think.
I will exchange with 3 people, from anywhere, within the US or WW. I will choose names at random tomorrow evening and ask for mailing info then. You must be an active user with several thank-yous and offers under your belt since this could be quite personal.
My own 3 words for my 3 exchanges are: waffles, together and dance.
*edit: a word for clarity
