Thank you for these wonderful cards (scroll down to see all of it!)
I received most of these cards this week (some last week~) and they couldn't have come at a better time. This week has been a bit rough - work is piling up and I'm currently home alone for a couple weeks. Coming home to these cards in my mailbox has brought me so much joy and many smiles.
u/soft_distortion: This Blue Jays card is awesome! What a lovely surprise and just like the last card you sent me, the stamps on this one are also amazing. It has inspired me to go into random Canada Post locations to see if they have different stamps that aren't available online. I'm on the hunt now! Thank you! Will you be going to any games this season? We're not doing too well this year but there's still time!!!
u/girlsonabench: This "City Girl" art print is even more beautiful in person. I've spent a good amount of time just starting at all the details on it and the pastel background colour just makes me feel so hopeful. Thank you!! I hope you get to make it out to Toronto this summer too! There are soo many places I would recommend! Kensington market is a nice little area to walk through and try different foods (like 1 hours tops). Just south of that on Queen street, there's Graffiti Alley where you can see a bunch of cool graffiti and sometimes you can see artists doing their thing too. If you get a chance, Center Island is also wonderful for biking (you'll have to take a ferry to get to it) - there's also a nude beach if you want to try that out but I wouldn't recommend it based on what I've heard. There are the usual tourist sites too like CN tower and "Rogers Centre" (or Skydome ;) ). High Park is also a nice place to walk around in. The great thing about the summer too is that there's a bunch of festivals that happen almost every weekend so check out which ones are on when you're here!
u/rainbowquarts: Glad to hear you're feeling better now.. (or when you finished making the card!) I find that drawing helps me out too when I'm having a bad day or just not feeling the best. Honestly, this card hit close to home when I got it. So many times I just feel like I'm doing my best and sometimes it's not enough. It gets overwhelming! There's a good scene in "American Gods" where (SPOILER) a character is getting judged after death and they say "I tried my best" and Death (or the Grim Reaper?) says "Your best is good". Your card reminded me of that scene and I just very much appreciate it. Thank you!
u/stockman1984: Thank you! The card has found me well and has brought me many chuckles. Every time I look at it, it just cracks me up. I think it's the sign saying "Sorry!" on it - seems very comedic. It kind of reminds me of Napoleon a bit when he's exiled and he's like "Sorry....going to come back now!" haha. Thanks for the cool stamps too! Of the three, the popsicle one is probably my favourite because they look super delicious and remind me of summer childhood days :). My weekend has been pretty "me-oriented" which is kind of nice. We're finally getting some nice weather here! What did you think of the final episode of GOT?! Are you hoping for a remake of the last season? :P
u/mary_eev: Thank you for the beautiful Van Gogh "The Haystacks" card. My favourite Van Gogh paintings are the ones where it's just something so ordinary or "normal" like his paintings of workers in fields or just fields in this case. It helps me appreciate a different aspect of the world. Thank you for the wonderful quote as well which I'm going to post here because it was very encouraging: "I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people" - Van Gogh. Such a beautiful quote for a beautiful card..with beautiful washi tape. Thank you also for the mini card as well! It really does match the colours of the Van Gogh card!
u/wisdombabies: The Dalai Lama card is amazing! It is so cute and I just love the 'hipster' take on his image. Even the expression on his face brings a smile to mine. Thank you and thank you for the quote as well. I hope you don't mind that I post it here.. it impacted me and it's something that I can't get enough of. I want to put this picture up on my wall but also want to show the quote as well as a reminder to myself! "My religion is very simple. My religion is Kindness." - Dalai Lama. Thank you~ I also love the stamps! I think it's adorable that one of them says "additional ounce" <3
u/bellanova2018: Thank you for your congrats! I love this Alexander Calder "Aluminum Leaves, Red Post" card! The leaves especially reminds me of a spine where leaves IRL have that spiny look too just in a different way. I also love the contrast of the post and the leaves. The post is super pointy and edgy but the leaves have a flowy feel. Thank you! I very much appreciate the stamp as well. I had to look up "Anzac Day" where I learned it's like a Remembrance day or Veteran's Day. Thank you~
Thanks for reading my essay of a post! Thanks for being awesome RAOC <3
(edit: I realize my title is a mistake.. it's to 7 RAOCers.. I can't count!)
