My mum turned 60 today. We had taken her with us to Florida and Disney last month as some of you may know.
Today was her birthday, but she is feeling incredibly down, and I want to help cheer her up with some happy mail...
Here's why she's down...
- Her 2 daughters (and my niece who is more like a daughter to her) didn't give her a birthday card... The only cards she received were from myself and my dad
- Her 'big presents' have already been and went, so today on her birthday it just feels a bit empty. I don't even know what my sisters have bought her.
- Her birthday fell on a Wednesday when the entire family is busy with work etc. so nobody is visiting her today
- She doesn't know my dad has arranged a birthday meal for her on Saturday when we are all free
- My grandmother, her mum, died 4 days before her birthday, 4 years ago.
Right now, my wife and I are pulling together our money for my wife's visa extension. It's unexpectedly went up by £500 since we last looked (about £1,000 for the visa itself and an additional £1000 for NHS Fees), and we're already in a bit of debt. We're okay and we do have a plan to sort it, but we're having to be tight on money, which means I can't send as many cards, especially since they put the price up a few weeks ago. I feel really bad just purely requesting cards, as I've requested some for one of my sisters, and my niece, and now my mum.
So I'm happy to send back some cards as an exchange for you guys to send some to my mum. I want her to get as many as possible. At the moment I have 10 international postcard stamps. I've never used this type of stamp before. It's old stock, but I'm told they are still perfectly valid.
ANYWAY, 3 options
- Request an exchange with me and take one of the available cards, send a card in exchange to my mum
- Send a card to my mum and give me your address to send you a card randomly later this year
- Send a card to my mum without a card in return
- /u/linzrap Disney postcard
- /u/nativerose602 Any
- /u/DrFroggie NASA postcard
- /u/at1as66 Scotland Postcard

I have Disney cards, NASA cards, Coca Cola cards, Scotland cards, pattern cards, and more
Edit: She doesn't have many hobbies, mainly just watches TV, Netflix, crochets, and looks after my niece and dad .
They adopted my niece when she was 2 years old (long story short, sister was on drugs, couldn't look after baby, she was put in foster care, broke my parents heart so they took my sister to court and won custody of my niece. Sister is now clean and has 2 other kids who live with her while my niece lives with my parents). My mum has went through so damn much with my sister and bringing up my niece when she was supposed to be at an age to relax. My niece (who is 17 this year, not the niece i requested cards for) tried to commit suicide 2 years ago and ended up in a coma because she was depressed as a result of the whole situation. She accused my sisters new boyfriend of touching her inappropriately. god I could go on and on and on about how much my mum has put up with. She is just such an amazing person. My dad is totally dependent on her too. He turned 61 this year but stopped working like 10 years ago due to disabilities...
Edit again: Not gonna lie, i DO want to send some cards too. It's been a while and I really enjoy sending the cards. So if you want one back please dont hesitate to ask!
