I've only been on this subreddit for a short while, but in that time, I've come to know that you guys are some of the most generous, kind and well-intentioned people on the Internet. The way you come through for people in their time of need is brilliant. And the time and energy you have to spare to brighten up people's day with handwritten cards is nothing short of awesome.

I've had the privilege to send a few birthday cards to members of the sub in my short time here, and this morning an idea dawned on me. I've been suffering from severe anxiety and depression for several years now, and the toll that's taken on my social life has been crippling. Barely a sole remembers that I exist, and, with every passing year, I dread my birthday more and more because I know I'll be lucky to receive even one card.

My birthday unfortunately is coming up next month and I have no expectation of receiving anything. My one remaining joy in life, though, is sending and receiving handwritten cards and letters through the post, which I live for, and I wonder if maybe this year I could turn this situation around for myself with a little help from you guys.

So, what I wanted to propose is a kind of annual birthday card exchange in which you and I could make a note of each other's birthdays and try to send out a card to each other for our birthdays to make the day a little more meaningful. I'm willing to do this with anyone and everyone who replies, and hopefully, between us, we can spread a little birthday cheer in what, at least in my case, would otherwise be a pretty gloomy life.

So I'm asking for one birthday card this (or every) November in exchange for me sending you a birthday card on your next or every birthday. How does that sound?

Cards will please need to be sent by October 31st in order to reach me in the UK in time for my birthday.
