u/spaaaaaacey Thank you for the cool pink Martian colonies postcard! Atari, so cool! Totally obsessed with Pac-Man & Mrs. Pac-Man!!! When I was a kid, my parents owned a laundromat and we had the actual huge video game machines for all the Pac-Man games, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, & so many more! I actually learned to cuss while playing Pac-Man lol! I first uttered the “F” word (the four letter one) ­ at the age of four. I manned the fort by myself at my family’s flailing laundromat during the day while my parents worked minimum wage blue­-collar jobs (yes, my childhood was weird - my parents are lucky no one called CPS on them). When I wasn’t giving out change for the machines or crawling around on my hands & knees looking for lost quarters under the dusty washers or folding guest laundry for the “Wash, Dry, & Fold” service at 49 cents per pound, I stood on a chair & played the coin-­operated arcade game machines that brought in some spare change for my family. One teenage high school boy, James, would frequently come to the laundromat after school with other boys to play the games. I noticed that James would yell this unfamiliar word each time he lost at Pac­-Man. “F#@%!!!!” So I realized that’s what you’re supposed to say when you lose at Pac­-Man. Soon, innocent customers relaxing with magazines while waiting for their clothes to dry would spill their hot coffee in horror, startled to hear a cute little girl in a dress with pigtails scream “F#$%!!!! F@%&!!!! F@&$!!!,” each time Pac-Man died. Not one customer said a word but sadly, the F-Bomb detonated for the final time when months later, my mother nearly fainted when she finally heard her four-­year-­old lose at Pac­-Man. :) BTW do you remember a fun hiding spot in Pac-Man where the ghosts couldn’t get us lol? u/duck-with-bat-wings I LOVE LOVE LOVE this “Hello from Maplewood” Words Bookstore card!!! I’m bananas for illustrated cards so this is one of my all-time faves!! I think it’s so awesome that the bookstore is within walking distance…we don’t have that kind of luxury here! Sadly, our cities are not built for walking. Ages ago, my bf and I tried to walk to the library near his place, about a mile away, and we physically couldn’t do it even after trying for over an hour because we would have been killed without pedestrian walkways! I also LOVE the cuuuute frog sticker you used to decorate the card - please tell me where I can find the sticker collection from where this gem came!! Love your pink ink too!! I’m all about bookish knick-knacks too! Would love to know what book you bought if you wanna share! And your chicken calendar sounds cuuuute!

Just heard half of Dave Chappelle’s Netflix special this weekend after I read that he earned 20 million per special WTH?!? And thank you for appreciating my hobby of collecting vintage children’s books! I never sell them, only buy them lol. I don’t even have the space for them but I sure can’t stop! One of my fave “modern vintage” books is a 1980s Strawberry Shortcake cookbook with vintage SS illustrations! My heart hurts when I see how she has changed over the years because she was perfect in the 80s! At a recent library book sale, I found my most recent love…a 1950s illustrated children’s dictionary. I ESPECIALLY love the dictionaries because the illustrations are small enough for me to cut out and use for my art journaling (but now I’m apprehensive to cut through them unless I have a second copy to keep intact lol)! I took them over to my librarian friend, with whom I share any mushroom-themed snail mail goodies because she loves mushroom anything. Please forgive me that I can’t always write as much as I’d like in my own cards because I have horrendous carpal tunnel pain. So I type more, which also hurts, but hurts less than physically writing. Hoping all of you have recovered from the crazy colds. They are all so lucky to have you taking care of them! The weather in my state is driving me batcrap crazy. It’s either hot as hell or 10 degrees. It gets in the way of my taking regular walks. And we just don’t know how to drive in icy weather. We’re not equipped with the special tires and special clothes. I honestly wish I could live in your state just for the weather! I didn’t understand about the “synchronized sleeping” - I thought it would mean y’all sleep at the exact same time. But it sounds like you’re trying to avoid his breath hahaha! I can totally relate to what you said about your daughter & y’all’s relationship. I helped raise my niece ever since she was a baby, and now that she’s 13, she constantly breaks my heart! She used to love me so much & now I’m just trash even though I still help raise her. I never loved anyone more & she doesn’t even recall how much she used to love me. She stays with us part-time. I wish I could rewind time to when she was a baby again! It was so much fun & now, it’s tough for her to crack a smile as well, as you mentioned. It’s so painful! I love that you and your son play with the “World’s Smallest” toys!! Minis are my THING!!! I hope I can control myself from Googling them hahaha! I just bought those little “Make Your Own Mini Food” surprise toys & was horrified to discover that out of the two I bought, they were both the same. I don’t have $7.50 to throw down the drain like that! It was a total splurge & I felt so bad afterward. These companies are so naughty with the surprise toys & making us buy duplicates!
