So, you know that I am human Pink Pengin (they/them), your favorite waddling nonbinary carder, and that I am often assisted by the wonderful and cuddly Plush Pink Pengin (she/her), who is in fact purple, not pink, right?
Well, we also have some less-often-mentioned but very important counterparts in carding and camaraderie - Plush Link Pengin (she/her/emperor of the world), who actually is pink in color, and human Link Pengin, aka my wife!
Yes, Pink is purple and Link is pink.
And that should give you a clue about how word associations and brain patterns work in this household - which is important for this, the first in an occasional offer series driven by my lovely wife and her pengin pal.
A lot of you know that I love to upcycle my page-a-day calendars into cards. Well, this year, Wife has also acquired a page-a-day calendar, hers of "history mysteries." The mysteries themselves are... well, they're pretty odd. We think they're poorly researched and summarized, TBH, and I would not want to make them into cards and spread what seems in a lot of cases to be tabloid-style misinformation. BUT, in addition to her reading me her "facts" when they're particularly, uh, interesting, we thought it would be fun to come up with a carding challenge based on them.
So, when she reads me one of her calendar entries, I do some free association and dive into my card piles, looking for something that relates. And by relates, I mean, well... in my head, I can get from Point A (calendar) to Point B (card someone will receive) eventually.
When I get a few of them stockpiled, I'll do an offer like this one, listing EITHER Point A (topic from calendar) or Point B (general theme of card I chose).
To claim:
- Be flaired (envelope next to your name, indicating someone has posted a thank-you for at least one card you sent them).
- Pick one of the items in the list below and comment whether you think it's a "Point A" (topic from the calendar) or a "Point B" (topic related to the card I ended up at). Important: You can only pick one item per offer - no putting in a guess for all of them!
- Bonus points if you also include a wild guess about what the other thing is. (So, if you think what's listed is a Point B - topic of a card - guess what you think the actual history mystery was that was Point A!)
These are all open to anyone worldwide who does the above!
Today's items (remember, comment whether you think these are Point A or Point B topics below):
Lighthouses in western MichiganclaimedCroatoanclaimedThe belt of holesclaimedThe Love Letter, a painting by Frederick Charles SoulacroixclaimedThe Googies are ComingclaimedVrillonclaimed
Hop in and give it a try - I know it sounds a little more complicated, but I hope it'll be fun and certainly you'll get a terrifyingly close look at how my neurodivergent lil' brain does its thing!
