Greetings from the intrepid head researcher at the RAoC Institute for Psychical Experiments (RIPE). That's right, we've decided to again grace u/randomactsofcards with another rigorous, scientifically sound experiment sponsored by the Rotterdam Academy of Cosmetology (AKA RAoC) (to those of you who have been messaging me about tuition and if our program meets licensure requirements for cosmetology in your state, PLEASE stop. We're not that Rotterdam Academy of Cosmetology, we run experiments with novelty cards, for the love of Pete! We also have a vet tech program).

This is our first advanced experiment of telepathy and remote viewing, possibly even astral travel. You can see the first experiment here and the results here. This study runs concurrent to our second, expanded Zener study, because it is snowing outside in a wet and gross way and I am sensitive and don't want to go out there, so why not.

This study will use the face cards from a standard deck of playing cards, and will be structured like previous studies. We won't be including aces, so that makes 12 playing cards to choose from.

I have numbered 5 postcards, drawn a playing card for each, and written the result on the corresponding postcard. The playing cards were shuffled before each draw. The results are simply awaiting postage and your address.

For reference, here are the suits and faces (we are not including aces). We're using a standard Bicycle deck. So there's a king of spades, king of hearts, king of diamonds, king of clubs, and so on for the other faces. Perhaps this is an overexplanation, but this is science.

Suits: Spades ♠️, Hearts ❤️, Diamonds ♦️, Clubs ♣️

Faces: King, Queen, Jack

If you'd like to participate in the experiment, please comment below. Anyone is welcome, open to international this time, prior participants may also take part. I will respond to comments in order of receipt with your number (first response is 1, second is 2, etc) which will correspond to your postcard. At this point, the Institute will reach out to you with our address, and to attain yours (note: we're in the US, there's a lot of Rotterdams, maybe you have assumptions about how the world works but that speaks really poorly about you).

Please take a few minutes to meditate once you have your number and to try to visualize the playing card chosen for you, or the postcard itself. Obviously me and my Cosmonauts in Training (CiT) can't ensure that you do this, but we ask that you try to play nice. Then jot down what you believe your card to be in a notecard or on a postcard and mail it on over to RIPE. RIPE will have our card to you mailed within 48 hours of receipt of address. Please try to mail yours within 4 days. In any case, please email yourself either a photo of your guessed results or just the words so there is datestamped proof of your choice in case your card gets lost in the mail. I have already documented the RIPE end of the deal.

So, your card can just say "queen of spades" if you believe that this was the card selected for you, or you can draw a spade and write "queen," or really anything as long as the communication is clear. Once I receive all 5 responses via snail mail (or after 8 weeks, whichever comes first), I'll post results. I am not expecting any perfect matches, but there is some potential here that I am interested in exploring. For example, I would expect that many people (of the 5 total) would get the color right. Fewer would get the face, even fewer the specific suit. Some may get the color and face, but not the suit. Maybe someone will get the suit and face. And so on. I will explain some stuff about probability too if anyone cares!
