Hello everyone! As many folks know, I am now retired from my career job in state government. Although I was able to use some excess leave and stop working at the end of October 2023, my official retirement date was January 1, 2024 (yes, three days ago). What makes this even better...I had an idea of what I wanted to do in retirement, and it came true today! I was able to get a part-time job helping others that will allow me to work during the week/normal business hours with options to choose how often I get to work. As the lady told me the other day during the interview, it is basically getting paid for volunteering with the type of work I will be doing. This is exactly what I wanted, and after having a rough month in December with some personal health issues and unexpected expenses, the fact that everything is falling into place as I hoped (that seems to almost never happen!) is even more exciting for me.
