We also started buying live Christmas trees when we moved from an apartment to a house after years of using the fake one. In fact, my family just bought a live Christmas tree today and are setting it up as I’m typing this up. When my budgie was alive she used to fly to the Christmas tree.

Your husband’s Swiss food traditions sound so delicious though I could also go for your aunt’s food as well (I’ve never tried bechamel sauce before)! My family makes pancit (long noodles with meat and veggies) and egg rolls. The pancit is supposed to represent long life.
