Hi! I'm AppleCritter! Oh, you know, the one who talks incessantly about animals I randomly see or a host of other boring topics like taking my cat or dog or human fam for walks? Not ringing a bell? Maybe that's because I have been MIA for an entire MONTH... :/ What if I posted a pic of said cat? Would that make things better? https://imgur.com/a/aek6X9n Still no? That's fair.
Uggh, I am seriously so sorry I'm always so late posting and that I don't think I have sent a single card for the entire month of August. I surprisingly did not fall off the planet. I've been doing some other non-paper-related crafty stuff (like finishing a renovation and a new quilt for the littles before the cooler weather hits), doing school stuff, and I've also been getting out a bit more doing random fun things now that the smallest is a bit bigger and getting super active, so all good... but it also means I've been a reallllllyyy crap friend to all the lovely people who've sent me such incredible mail. I think I'll probably need another hiatus while I catch up again. Sending virtual hugs until then because I love each of you dearly.
Mod List because this post is going to be a biggie:

Not alphabetical this time, just pulling from my cute little stack of happy cards at random. :)
u/mlks00, I hope you're doing super well, friend! I love your idea for the the upcoming birthdays in your fam! I have have put some things on the dining room table so I don't forget (because if I'm great at anything.... it's forgetting!). Is the weather cooling for you yet?
u/libertyprogrammer (x4), You sent a beautiful mermaid postcard with lots of adorable mermaid stickers...ohmywordtheyaresocuuuuutttee. It mentioned your break. I'm so sorry things are a bit much there and can definitely relate to being overwhelmed/not in the mood for things, so please take as much time as you need. I feel like things are cyclical, and sometimes you just have more or less energy for things, and it can be especially hard when you have other things on your plate, good or bad. You are a treasure, friend. so please take care and let me know if there's anything I can do in the mean time or if you need any cheer sent your way.
You made a stunning card with birds and lacy doilies and sparkly rhinestones....and....and....and! It's gorgeous! It made my day! :) You always do so much to make things special!
Oooh, what a pretty pink postcard with two friends reading together! I love it so much! So part of the things I did last month was trying to catch up on your great recs. I think I've read all your except one now, and the one that's left is on my shelf on the ready!....but I've waited too late to tell you about them while you're on your break.... I'm so sorry this has taken me so long, but your book recommendations are top-notch! <3
Also, I actually can't remember if I have posted a thanks for the pretty New River Gorge postcard. It was in my to-thank stack but dated a while ago, so I might've missed it from the last post. You even drew a cute little sunset behind mountains on this one! You're so sweet for sending things from your travels. It's fun to live vicariously! Oh, and yes! The short trip to the cabins is still in works for next month. It'll be a nice underwhelming time, if things go well! lol
u/mikepenpal6 (x2), It's always fun hearing from you! I hope you've been doing well. You sent a vacation postcard from a gorgeous location that I've always wanted to visit, so thank you for sending a little piece my way! The lighthouse pic looks idyllic!
Your rose card was also lovely! <3 We love going to museums any time we're in a new place (or the local ones when we're staying home)! It's one of our favorite things to do! I hope the rest of your summer plans went well and that you're looking forward to the cozy fall!
u/constructionlower549 (x2), how did you fit such a cool, happy story onto one little postcard?! It's so pretty! I love that everything's purple! Did you have so much fun at the concert?! I cannot even imagine how fun that must've been! They were my faves for a very long time, and I can't believe you got to see them! Sooo awesome! Also, I hope Pride was so much fun as well! That was a huge weekend! You always find the coolest things to do!
Ahhh, I love the colors you used for the second postcard too! It's so bright and matches the stamp and EVERYTHING!! I really, really hope that you've gotten some r&r from your insane work week. I can't imagine how you're not just hibernating the entire time you're not working. You're incredible!
u/umeshufan (x4) ,you sent a really pretty dove in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. On it you mentioned your recent opportunity, and I am actually so happy you ended up NOT taking it because it sounds from the way you wrote it that you weren't actually feeling it even then. Good for you, friend!
Oh my goodness, what a super special and sweet card you sent for our anni! The koala, llama, and cat cakes are so much fun! I honestly don't know how you keep up with everything like you do! This is so nice, and I really loved the news that you've started some paperwork yourself! Woohoo! <3
We did sign our certificate the same day, but we had to go into a gov't office to apply for the license within the month before the big day, if I'm remembering correctly. It was the bit of gathering official documents, and we went as soon as the month came bc we were silly and so excited thought we might just elope before the wedding. :D
I'm so excited you were able to go to such a cool place with your friend who was going through a really hard time. The place looks beautiful! I love the mountains there!
u/Jdoodle7 (x2), I opened the card that you sent with all the beautiful birds and said and audible, "Ooooooh, nice!" :D My husband had a Moluccan cockatoo growing up he loved so much, and there's one on here!
I also loved hearing that you were able to do some traveling/visiting with family recently! What special trips! It makes such a difference being able to spend some quality time with each other in person!
I'm traveling for a reunion soon and have a bit of mixed feelings because it'll be the first one since some of my closest family won't be around for it...Still, looking forward to hearing how everyone's been since I've last seen them! :)
u/PROGRAMMERBIG6254 (x2), You sent such a lovely butterfly card, and I loved hearing where you got it! What a cool place! We have a very small butterfly garden in our aquarium, and it might be my favorite spot there! I hope you had the best time with your family there! It sounds like such a fun day!
Oh, thank you for the book/show recommendations! We do love Studio Ghibli so much! Totoro is my absolute fave! I have written down your recommendations to find them! Our library has a huge selection and has started a manga/anime club for teens that I think my son will love in a couple years when he's "allowed" into the group! For now, he attends their Pokemon group at present.
I also loved your description of the snowfall! I told my husband when we met that I'd love to move to where he grew up because it SNOWS there! I then excitedly told him that I remember one December when I was maybe 4; we had a huge snowstorm, one that broke records! It was a blizzard where everyone stayed at home for ages until it all melted, and it was basically magic. I remember how the snow was so high that it..........came up to my dad's ankles! He started dying laughing at me!
He then took me to his hometown during the summer and said, "Do you see the poles on top of the mailboxes? That's so people can find them during winter." :o
u/LeeElla (x2), I received a lovely envelope filled with such sweet cards! It had the cutest otter stamps, and you even found an adorable otter card to put inside it with otter WASHI! I looked up Asian Small-Clawed Otters and was not disappointed. Their ears are impossibly teeny, and I adore them! I think I have some otter things in my stationery stash... I need to send them your way when I find them! :)
The cute card with the sleepy pigs from your time spent abroad was so fun! I'm so glad you took the opportunity to study in a different location. I haven't traveled nearly enough and hearing where others have been inspires me to go different places as well! I get to live vicariously a bit! :D Also, your handwriting is absolutely lovely! Thank you for sending such thoughtful words and beautiful cards to make me smile!
u/MonetMonkey, Ahhhh! I love it! I love it so much from the super adorable cat stamps to the hilarious corgi card and the magical stationery with the butterflies, bee, and ladybug. It's all so nice!
I loved the description of the beach wedding! XD Downpours seem to appear at the most inopportune times. I really hope it didn't completely ruin the day for everyone! What an adventure! :D I went to a beach wedding years ago. It looked like great weather, so they didn't bother with the tents, but there was a pop-up storm basically as soon as the bride appeared. She mentioned when they received the wedding video, she heard her uncle (who was sitting in front of us), saying "Doon dooooooon!" like she was a final boss calling up the storm herself and then my best friend and I trying (and failing) to stifle our giggles! It was one of her fave parts of the video!
u/TigerLady13, the Hall of Masses postcard arrived, and wow! It looks like a fairytale forest where the cutest of little magical creatures happen to live! :D What a cool place! You always find such awesome cards, and I always enjoy either learning about the areas or the hilarious commentary you add! :D It always makes me smile! Thank you! :)
u/babyraspberry (x3), What a gorgeous, decorated envelope filled with happy little treasures you've sent my way, friend! Thank you! I love the Disney postcards, stickers, and even the beautiful paper samples! Ugh, I'm undeserving but grateful... but full stop! Can we talk about this MAJOR NEWS-- A doggo?! Oh, my word, razzzzzpberry, tell me everyttthhhiiinnngg!! I'm so excited! Is it a corgi?! Ahhh, can't wait!
