[Thank You] to u/introvert_hangover for showering me with cards

Post Body

No sooner than I post a thank you for your previous mail, a whole pile of additional mail arrives from u/introvert_hangover. Thank you! - Thanks for the hummingbird card! So cool that they live near your house. I couldn't read the name of your puppy but it sounds very exciting - I hope that one day you'll share a picture over chat or in the mail :-) - Thanks for the Pokemon card ( sticker)! It's funny timing because Pokemon had never really been on my radar until last Friday, I met a 6 year old who was obsessed with it. He was telling me all these Pokemon facts and stats that I couldn't keep up with :) - I see that you're outdoing me on all my hobbies because I haven't heard of any of those fountain pens and you're clearly way more experienced with RC helicopters than I, but that's great! Same for the model rockets - mine were pretty small (not "mid and high power") although I would love to take that hobby up again. I think I even still have some of my old (unused) rocket motors but I'm not sure that I should still use them after all this time, I'm just procrastinating on finding a safe way to dispose of them. I think it would probably be possible to launch medium to high powered rockets near where I live (I haven't checked if there's a club these days), but this might become more difficult once I move; I'd at least definitely have to drive for an hour or more. - Thanks for the gaming card! Since the pandemic the only board games I've played were online since no one in my household is into them, which is a shame. I've never been that much into Catan - I feel it is merely adequate, but that is probably the reason for its success because it was adequate to everyone; while a low one, it is still a common denominator for lots of people. Based on the other games that you listed I do think we enjoy much of the same so I hope that one day we'll be able to play a game or three (in person or online)! I've actually played some Stardew Valley just recently, but I'm sort of happy that I think I broke out of it before it cost too much of my time - even these casual games can really suck one in. - I completely agree with both of your observations on "The Martian"! On the topic of how humanity values one life vs. others, sadly I think this accurately reflects real life though. If a well-known identifiable person needs help, humanity will move mountains, while at the same time doing nothing to protect millions of anonymous souls from Malaria and other preventable diseases, or fight obesity.

I don't know yet when I'll get around to writing back, but I'll definitely send you a longer-form response in the mail at some point. Thanks for sharing all of your thoughts!
