I know that hard times know no schedule, but I have a suggestion to maybe help requested items arrive sooner. If you post a request late Friday or any time on a weekend or holiday, your delivery could take a couple of extra days. That's because Amazon (whether the giver uses Prime or otherwise) doesn't count weekends/holidays as shipping days.
Say you post a request Friday evening, and the giver sees your request and orders right away. The official countdown for two-day shipping starts the following Monday, meaning the items won't arrive until Wednesday -- five days later!
As I said, sometimes difficult circumstances arrive suddenly and people have no control over that, but if you think you are going to need to make a request for pet food or supplies, you can probably get it quicker if you post the request during the week, due to the way Amazon and most other retailers count their "shipping days".
Also, cat litter, IME, takes 4-5 days even if Prime shipping is used, so definitely try to plan for that!
