Once again the calendar rolls around and we get to that day in February with the little red text underneath noting the feast day of St Valentine. Across the country pairs of people engage in the sharing of tokens of adoration, and fluttery-eyelashed conversation over expensive meals for two, all in the silent hope that once the meal is over they can repair to bed for a session of intimacy and passion.
But what of those poor souls among us for whom tonight will consist of a ready-meal for one and the company of Netflix? Where is the promise of intimacy and passion? Where is the excitement?
