I'm not sure if I'll regret this. Okay, I'll absolutely regret this. But what the hell.

I'm going on a solo hiking trip soon and I might as well make it more of a fun adventure.

I'm an educator who's taking a break for the first time in a really long time. Hiking in and around a national park I've never visited before seemed perfect. I booked a flight to Little Rock on a whim months ago, and I'm planning to visit Hot Springs NP (and surrounding areas) from March 8-10. I know it's not exactly Yosemite, but I thought it'd be fun to explore the area.

You know what's better than visiting a new place solo? Having someone join me. Having a dinner companion. Having someone on the car ride who wants to see nature, make a new friend, and share stories. Having someone nearby with a sarcastic sense of humor who just wants a goddamn shoulder to rest on and an ear for her thoughts every once in a while.

So here's my proposal...

• I'll pick you up in Little Rock on that Friday evening and bring you back by Sunday.

• You'll join me on a couple of non-strenuous hiking trips... or not. Maybe you just want to stay back and read, or lay down in the hotel room and chill out while I injure myself on a small mountain somewhere. It's up to you.

• I'll cover the hotel, food, car, and other expenses. You're my guest. I'll have more fun if you're having more fun.

• You are... pleasant company. A woman who's in her 30s (or older), who has life experience, who loves telling stories, and who enjoys the thought of spending a couple days with a relative stranger even though in the back of your mind you know damn well this is a horrible idea that sounds like a Dateline segment waiting to happen. (It won't be. I'm a decent guy, I swear.)

• We'll chat over the next two weeks to make sure we're comfortable with each other. If you're not feeling it, then we won't meet up.

• Ideally, we'd play together, too, but the nature of that is completely up to you. I love RAOMD which is why I'm posting here. But I'm also happy to platonically cuddle.

Like I said, I know this is an unusual request, but maybe there's someone out there who just wants to try something different, has a long weekend with no plans, and likes the idea of joining someone on what will ideally be a wonderful trip.
