Hero Review: Apothecary
Post Body

Youtube channel I'll have some videos showing Apothecary in action vs Hard/Brutal Clan Boss as well as masteries.

Spreadsheet This has a value tool to see if a package might be worth it, as well as links to my other reviews and Clan Boss testing data.

Faction: High Elves

Role: Support

Stats:

Stat Value at 60/6
HP 14,175
Atk 881
Def 1,002
Speed 106
Crits 15/50
Resist 30
Accuracy 0

- High Def and Speed are exactly what Apothecary wants, and even as a rare, he is higher than most Epics and Legendaries.

Skills:

Attack Description Cooldown Comments
A1 Attacks 3 times N/A Perfect for doing some damage to CB with Giant Slayer
A2 Heals 1 ally 35%, can crit 3(2) Great for Dungeons and topping off HP vs CB
A3 Aoe 30% Increase Speed buff for 2 turns, Fills turn meter of all allies by 15% 5(3) Going faster means more turns, more cooldowns, more damage
Aura Increases Ally Def in Dungeons by 21% N/A Not bad, but not great

Performance Ratings:

Content Rating Comments
Clan Boss 10/10 Apothecary makes or breaks your team. His A3 is INCREDIBLY important as this allows you to get more attacks in with WM/GS
Arena 7/10 Again, his A3 is great, his heal not so much with a lot of Aoe going around. His A1 is worthless in arena
Dungeons 9/10 Again, going more often means more damage, means faster clear times. His A1 becomes relevant when he finishes Giant Slayer. His heal shouldn't matter. You can probably find better supports like Zelotah or Gorgorab if you even need a support at all
Campaign/Farming 9/10 Apothecary with a Shield set makes clearing Brutal on 3* so much easier. But dont use him as a farmer please..

My configurations and Results:

Stat Value Comments
HP 45,269 40k needed for Hard CB
Atk 1,409 Means nothing. You want the GS procs
Def 1,917 Third best stat
Speed 219 Second best stat after HP
Crits 20/72 You dont need the crit heal when fighting Hard or higher difficulty
Resist 84
Accuracy 133 Pointless stat, mine comes from accessories and substats
Artifacts Immortal, 2x Speed DEF %, HP%, Speed
Masteries Here you go

Strictly built for CB and Dungeons. His Acc is way to high but they are all from Accessories and substats. You dont need it. I'd like to change his gloves out for more HP%. He's usually the first to die, but never before 9 minutes. Priorities are HP > Speed > Defense.

Clan Boss:

Pre Giant Slayer, Apothecary is just going to let your team go faster which gives them more turns, more cooldowns, which all equals out to more damage over all. He himself will never deal much damage but look at what he offers your team. Post GS, your team should be using lifesteal to stay alive past the 10 minute mark, so Apothecary strictly gives them more chances to heal themselves on top of all the previously mentioned reasons and he will be doing more damage (2.5-3.5 Million on my runs). I also did a few runs with and without Apothecary to show the power of his A3. 26-28 million on Hard CB with, and 21 million without. Meaning, technically he does as much damage as Juliana.

Who to pair with:

Just about anyone. Everyone needs speed and free turns and not many can do it, let alone do it as well as Apothecary. Considering his HP is rather high, a shield set (farm a free set at mission 51) is a great first getup to clear Brutal with.

Who to compare with:

There are many great supports. Zelotah is arguably better for arena with his shields and debuffs, but in longer fights you'll want Apothecary. Gorgorab is certainly the better support for Arena and can be better than Apothecary early on if you have trouble with your team dying. But nobody beats Apothecary at Clan Boss.

Do I recommend this hero:

Simple, I recommend anyone with Apothecary max him asap as one of your first heroes. And when you get to farming Minotaur 15, make sure he's in your first team. His A1 with Giant Slayer will make those bosses much easier.

*Edit: as someone pointed out, i needed to reiterate; apothecary’s job in the late game is not really to heal. Its there, it helps some. But when youre packing lifesteal and warmaster/giant slayer you dont need much healing. Apothecary’s job is his A3 > A1 > A2. He is a force multiplier. He makes your team stronger
