It turns off your phone's screen while still having the app run on the background. It'll save you a lot of battery time, and from my experience, if you have a fast charger on or over 2A, you will never run out of battery.
Be cautious though, it will reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery if it is overcharged often. And use undamaged batteries and authorized charging chords so that your phone won't explode.
