bonded pair (brother and sister) getting fixed tomorrow, will i be able to keep them together after?
Post Body

sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask! i tried searching online but all the articles were more about how to introduce non bonded pairs after desexing.

so i have a male and female that are siblings and just turned 6 months. they’ve been in the same enclosure (24sq ft) since i got them ~2 months old but last month the little guy put the moves on his sister so i split their enclosure in half with c&c grids so they can still smell and lick each other through the barrier.

i didn’t want to ruin their bond and talking to the vet on the phone they said to divide it adjacently like that but since they’re a bonded pair i can bring them together in the same carrying cage. i didn’t get much more information besides that (and to keep tummies full and being extra food for them) and i will ask tomorrow but i’m trying to be proactive as i prepare them to go and was wondering how long do i have to wait before letting them be back together?

i know it takes a few weeks for the male to be infertile and that the internet said to keep the doe separate from unbonded rabbits for a couple weeks to heal too but since they’re going in the same carrier and are bonded, will they be able to be together immediately or still wait? i just feel so bad that they haven’t been able to have much physical contact with each other 😭 please let me know and any other advice for how to prepare and make them as comfortable as possible is welcome!!! thank you for your time.
