The end of volume 2 looked promising for Raven, but then they not only skipped her talk with Yang, they also changed how it was supposed to go. She was supposed to give Yang some answers, not be like family guy Spider-Man and be like “EvErYoNe GeTs OnE!” And they couldn’t even keep that consistent.

Then they retconned her in volume 5!

When it comes to what I would do. I’d first of all, NOT retcon the ending of V2 and open V3 with a scene similar to Weiss and Winters interaction in V3.

Raven can have a similar personality. I’m not just gonna make her a typical over baring Mom, her personality (at least some of it) isn’t that bad, especially compared to… certain, other people. But I would make it so she actually cares for Yang, like her ability would have you believe since it gives her the ability to make portals to people she has a connection to (CARES ABOUT!). She wouldn’t be able to show it properly because of who she is, but Yang would know that she means well.

After giving Yang some of the answers she wants, but not saying everything, Raven leaves but says that she’ll look after her, even if Yang doesn’t see her. (a great opportunity to have a Raven show up periodically in a different scenes). She’ll continue to do this in V4 as well.

One thing I liked in a fan comic is Raven fighting Adam after what he did to Yang in V3 (Adam deserved better as well), so I would have that as well.

After that… I don’t know, but it’s a start.

Obviously this needs refining, but yeah, that’s the basics of what I would do with Raven.
