Did RWBY actually HAVE potential?

Post Body

I ask this sincerely.

Listen, I definitely understand why there’s appeal. The fights are great, the characters have great designs and there’s a fun premise for it…

…And?

I hear a lot about how RWBY is wasted potential, that it could have been truly amazing, and that’s true to an extent, anything can be great with good execution, but what potential is something that has been done thousands of times before? RWBYs premise while not bad, has been done by thousands of different shows better, it’s an amalgamation of numerous other ideas.

For those who believe RWBY is wasted potential…What made it actually have potential in your opinion?

Thanks for answering
